In the 1980s British Rail's engineering departments started to paint their departmental wagons in their own house colours - this ex-Railfreight OCA dropside open wagon was used by the Signal & Telecommunications (S&T) department for movement of equipment to worksites.  Suitable period 1980s and 1990s.
