The Hawksworth ‘16XX’ 0‑6‑0PT was a bit like Henry Ford’s Model T – it was only ever available in black! Therefore, we’re offering it in pristine and weathered finishes with both BR ‘cycling lion’ and ‘ferret and dartboard’ emblems, with 17 different numbers and shedcodes. 

We’re also lucky that preserved No. 1638 has appeared in non-authentic GWR green, while in its early days in preservation at Buckfastleigh it also carried BR unlined green and green with ‘Dart Valley’ lettering. Therefore, to inject a little variety into our model, these liveries are available too.

Nos. 1600 and 1607 also saw service with the NCB. No. 1607 was not scrapped until 1969/70. Photographs of this pair in NCB service have proved VERY thin on the ground, so we’ve chosen a green livery inspired by the colour scheme carried by ‘57XX’ cousin, No. 7754.

The Models

The Model Rail 16xx features a die-cast metal body and chassis with plastic detail fittings. A powerful five-pole can motor with flywheel drives the leading axle and the model is DCC ready with a Next18 decoder socket and a factory fitted speaker for those who want to add sound. There is also an illuminated firebox glow effect. 

No fewer than 22 different versions are available including No.1661 with 'Busby' spark arrestor chimney and chalked with 'Vinegar Castle' name, No. 1638 as preserved in GWR livery and No. 1600 and 1607 in NCB green.
