MR-308 Rapido Class 16XX Steam Locomotive number 1661 in BR Black with early emblem and Busby chimney - weathered finish.
PROTOTYPE INFORMATION
Built by British Railway and entering traffic in 1955, ‘16XX’ No. 1661 became the last example to carry the distinctive spark-arresting ‘Busby’ chimney. This was required for workings to and from the Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Ditton Priors, although No. 1661 is better known for operating trains to a Worcestershire vinegar works, gaining the nickname ‘Vinegar Castle’, which was chalked on the cab sides, and this is replicated on our exclusive ‘OO’ gauge model.
THE MODEL
Produced for Model Rail by Rapido Trains, the ‘16XX’ is finished in BR black livery with early style emblems, plus a suitably weathered finish portraying No. 1661 as it appeared in the late 1950s/early 1960s, while working out of Worcester shed (85A). The model features a glowing firebox effect within the cab, along with a Next18 DCC socket and a speaker is pre-installed within the bunker.
These models produced exclusively for Model Rail by Rapido.
